Archaeologists and the Temple at Coleshill
During excavations a number of artefacts were found which may hint to whom the temple was dedicated.
A remnant of a silver plaque was found showing a figure holding a shield. This could be Mars (a Roman name for a Celtic god) or possibly Mercury. A number of ‘feminine' objects, pins, cosmetic containers, tweezers and nail cleaners, were also found.
These discoveries could mean that the temple was dedicated to ‘Mars' as well as to a god/goddess who would appeal to women
