2 Site of Mermaid public house, West Street, Warwick. Site of historic public house recorded on F. White & Co.'s and Pigot's databases. The latter shows it in existence in 1828. Situated on the north-west side of West Street, in a medieval suburb of Warwick.
3 Crossling situates the public house at No 46 West Street.
4 From the early 19th century to 1880 the Mermaid Inn's owner was the Church of St Mary in Warwick. This, and a house in Church Street, were let to tenants and the rent used for the Church funds. These buildings were sold in 1880 and the proceeds invested in stock for the Church.

The medieval period comes after the Saxon period and before the post medieval period.

The Medieval period begins in 1066 AD.
This was the year that the Normans, led by William the Conqueror (1066 – 1087), invaded England and defeated Harold Godwinson at the Battle of Hastings in East Sussex.
