Description

Source Number

1 Site of Britannia Hat Factory marked on the Ordnance Survey map of 1887.
2 The Britannia Works may have taken over a pre-existing Hat Factory as one is listed in the area by 1862 and 1872 directories, though its precise location is more difficult to assess. The portion of the Hat Factory recorded as the Britannia Hat Factory contains a number of mid-19th to mid-20th century buildings, though these are not all of historical significance.
