Source Number  

1 Cotton mill erected at the lower end of Wallace Street by the Parkes Firm et al, circa 1795. Housing for workers led to the rise of Parkes/Crompton/Brookhouse Streets to the south, west of Lammas Fields. The mill site later known as the Eagle Works. Now Sainsbury Supermarket.
