The Local Studies Toolkit has been created to help you begin researching the history of your local area. Within
the toolkit you will find expert hints and tips on how to conduct successful research and who to turn to for
additional help. Illustrations are included to make some of the more complicated sources more understandable
and a list of regularly used words and their meanings.
The toolkit has been created by staff at the Historic Environment Record, which is part of Warwickshire
Museum Field Services, Archaeology section. The toolkit is a product of the archaeological outreach project,
‘Extracting Warwickshire's Past: Neighbourhood Outreach Strategy' and supported by the English Heritage Aggregates
Levy Sustainability Fund.
